This error usually occurs due to an incomplete value in the registry. To fix this .DLL error, perform the following...

  1. Click Start

  2. Type regedit into the search box (for Vist/7); Use “Run” to open regedit (XP & earlier)

  3. Navigate to the following registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

  1. Export this key to a new folder on your desktop in case you make any mistakes in editing the registry.

  2. After exporting the key, delete the Search Bar value from the Main key.

Creating a new folder on the Desktop or within Windows Explorer may cause the following error message.

"EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module SHELL32.DLL at <memory address>"

"Microsoft Internet Explorer There was an internal error and one of the windows you were using will be closed. It is recommended that you save your work, close all of your programs, and then restart the computer."

These errors occur due to issues in the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVe rsion\Explorer\StreamMRU

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVe rsion\Explorer\StreamMRU

To correct these errors, navigate to these keys and export them to the folder you created earlier. After the keys have been exported, delete these keys in the registry.

Performing these actions should correct the problem with shell32.dll, if it does not, you may need to do a clean install of Windows.
