Internet Explorer will reset all the settings and delete temporary Internet files. It will notify you once it is complete. Once it has finished, close the Internet Explorer browser and reboot the computer. For some users, this will fix the problem. If it did not, proceed to the next section.

Disable Error Messages

If resetting the Internet Explorer settings didn't help, try disabling error messages and notifications.

  1. Close all programs and windows.

  2. Launch Internet Explorer

  3. Click the Tools menu

  4. Click Internet Options from the list that appears. The Internet Options will open in a new window.

  6. Browse the list and place a check next to Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable script debugging (Other). Also look for Display a notifaction about every script error and clear the check from this box.

  7. Reboot the computer.

If disabling the error messages does not stop the runtime errors from popping up, proceed to the next section to attempt a different solution. If the runtime error messages have stopped, there is no need to proceed any further.

Software Errors

Runtime errors most often occur when a program fails to perform an attempted action correctly. This event can occur if the program does not have the most current updates. Make sure that the program causing the errors has all of the latest updates from the software developer. Obtaining the latest updates for your software will improve performance, stability and is likely to stop the runtime errors.

Additionally, there are many toolbars and other browser plug-ins that have been known to cause runtime errors during operation. Try uninstalling any toolbars that are installed through Add/Remove Programs. You can access Add/Remove Programs by taking these steps...

  1. Click Start

  2. Click Control Panel

(Windows XP)

  • Click Add or Remove Programs

(Windows Vista/7)

  • Click Uninstall a program

Taking the above steps for your version of Windows will open Add/Remove Programs in a new window. The window will populate a list of programs installed on the computer. This may take several moments if there are a lot of programs installed. Browse the list of installed programs and find any toolbars installed on the computer. To uninstall one, click it once and then click the Change/Remove/Uninstall button within this window.

Toolbars are one of the most common causes of runtime errors. Disabling and uninstalling toolbars has stopped the runtime errors for many users. If the errors are still occurring, there may be errors in the registry.

Registry Errors

If none of the above steps stopped the runtime errors, there is most likely errors within the registry. The Windows registry contains essential information for the normal operation and proper functionality of your computer. Making changes to the registry can be extremely harmful to the computer unless it is done with care and knowledge of the effect any one change can present. We recommend SlimCleaner Plus.
