WARNING: Misusing the following information can cause serious damage to your computer. Please follow the directions precisely. If you are not comfortable with this, we recommend you download FixCleaner, an automated repair tool.

This .DLL is very important! If this .DLL has errors, it could occur at any time during a Windows session, but is usually prompted when a program the user is attempting to run is trying to access the memory that this .DLL is currently using. If you are receiving this error you should first troubleshoot the issue by doing the following:

  1. Restart your computer. The error may not persist.

  2. Reinstall the program that caused the error.

  3. Remove any .DLL files that you have saved to your Desktop.

  4. Decrease the Hardware Acceleration on your video card or overclocked processor settings (This often resolves the issue.)

  5. Run a virus scan (Some viruses can cause Kernel32.dll errors.)

  6. Update your drivers (Video card can cause Kernel32.dll errors.)

  7. Test your system memory for damage (Random applications that throw Kernel32.dll errors is a sign that your system memory is damaged.)

  8. Run a repair installation of Windows (For older versions, this requires a disc.)

If none of these solutions work, then you need to either replace the .DLL or do a clean install of Windows. A clean install of Windows can be timely so I will explain how to replace Kernel32.dll...

  1. Download Kernel32.dll

  2. Follow the instructions provided at the link above.

If replacing the .DLL with a new one did not work, try a clean installation of Windows. If a clean installation of Windows does not work then it is most likely bad hardware (RAM, hard drive).
